I oil my hair to keep it healthy and moisturize, and I have always use the same oils for the most part. I recently came across a new oil that is worth a blog post.
Babassu Oil (Orbignya oleifera) is native to Northeastern Brazil, found in the Amazon region of South America extracted from the Brazilian Babassu plant or also known as cruisi. Much like coconut oil, it contains about 70 percent of lipids, so your hair will love it. Bababssu oil is a natural emollient with restorative properties; it works to soothe irritated scalps and treat dandruff. Once extracted correctly you have a light yellow looking oil that feels almost like water on touch. The nuts fall from the trees once ready and are collected; they are broken open to extract the meat inside.
For Your Natural Hair
Babassu oil can be use directly on your natural hair, or you can add it to products, shampoo, conditioner, and other product you use in your hair. It works to condition the hair; it boosts the moisture level as you are deep conditioning your hair or just adding a leave-in conditioner. Babassu oil is great for conditioning, moisturizing, and deep conditioning dry, brittle, and damaged hair.
My DIY oil Mix:
I decided to add a few oils that help with my hair growth already with this oil to create a hair growth mix. Some oils do work better with others, so I always do my best to choose oils that blend well together.
What you will need:
-4 oz of Babassu Oil http://amzn.to/2hzXEFB -6 oz of Coconut Oil -1/2 cup of Fenugreek Seed -3 tbsp. of Castor Oil -3 tbsp. of Extra Virgin Olive Oil -1 tsp. of MSM Powder -1/2 tsp. Vitamin C powder -8 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil -4 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil -4 drops of Tee Tree Oil -4 drops of Burdock Root Oil -4 drops of Nettle Oil
Instructions:
Pour the coconut and babassu oil in a glass container with the fenugreek seed and allow to soak fro two weeks. Strain seed of the oil mix and proceed to add other carrier oils in the jar. After carrier oils are all added, go and add the vitamin C and MSM powder. Last, add the essential oils, cover the jar tight and give it a little shake to mix and melt all the products together. Now your oil is ready to use, just make sure that all the products are blended, and the powders are mix with the oils before applying it to hair and scalp.
